Elbert County Fire Department in Elberton, Georgia proudly protects 15,000 people living in an area of 370 square miles while operating 12 volunteer stations and one full time station with an ISO rating of 4 – Water Haul. The department is made up of six full time firefighters and approximately 109 volunteer firefighters who, through their hard work and dedication, risk their lives to protect life and property. Water is supplied in the outlying areas by dry hydrants as well as boat ramp suction sources on Lake Russell and Strom Thurmond Lake. Pressurized hydrants can be found in the cites of Bowman and Elberton as well as extending into some areas of Elbert County.
